This expansion marks a meaningful homecoming for La Monarca Bakery’s founders. “Our mission has always been to share the Sweet Flavor of Mexico™” co-founder & CEO Ricardo Cervantes “so bringing our products to Costco Mexico is a special moment for us.”

Founded by Ricardo Cervantes and Alfredo Livas and inspired by the panaderías they grew up with in Mexico, La Monarca Bakery set out to recreate the cherished flavors of their youth using simple, high-quality ingredients without artificial flavors or preservatives. La Monarca opened its first location in Huntington Park, California in 2006, and has since expanded to 12 bakery-cafes and a popular line of packaged cookies, coffees and hot chocolate beverages that can be found at over 1,000 retail locations across the U.S.

La Monarca Bakery, a beloved U.S. Hispanic food brand known for recreating Mexico’s favorite cookies, coffees and chocolate beverages using high-quality, simple ingredients, is expanding its distribution to new Albertsons divisions, bringing the total number of states to eight.

In 2022, Albertsons began carrying the brand’s signature Mexican cookies and Café de Olla in its California stores. Now, regions will also offer La Monarca Bakery’s new Churro Cookies, Mexican Chocolate Butter Cookies, Chocolate Mexicano Beverage Mix and Champurrado Beverage Mix, bringing its assortment to eight SKUs. With this recent expansion, La Monarca Bakery products will be available in eight states: California, Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado, Nevada, Kansas, Louisiana and Texas.

La Monarca Bakery’s SKU lineup includes five scratch-made cookies and three beverages:

• Mexican Wedding Cookies (6 oz.) - La Monarca Bakery’s signature Wedding Cookies are made with butter and pecans and dusted with powdered sugar.
• Orejitas (3.4 oz.) - La Monarca Bakery’s palmiers are made with buttery puff pastry and lightly dusted with sugar for a golden-brown finish.
• Cinnamon Cookies (6 oz.) - La Monarca Bakery’s cinnamon shortbread cookies are dusted with a blend of cinnamon and sugar.
• Churro Cookies (3 oz.) - La Monarca Bakery’s Churro Cookies are made with butter and cinnamon. Unlike traditional churros, they are baked rather than fried.
• Mexican Chocolate Butter Cookies (4 oz.) - La Monarca Bakery’s Chocolate Butter Cookies are made with fair-trade cacao and real butter.
• Café de Olla Ground Coffee (12 oz.) - La Monarca Bakery’s best-selling Café de Olla is made with freshly roasted coffee, cinnamon, and brown sugar.
• Chocolate Mexicano Beverage Mix (10 oz.) - La Monarca Bakery’s Hot Chocolate is made from fair-trade cacao ground in-house with a custom blend of sugar and spices.
• Champurrado Cinnamon Atole Beverage Mix (10 oz.) - La Monarca Bakery’s Champurrado is a modern take on the classic cold-weather holiday beverage.

Buñuelos are very traditional in holiday gatherings for Hispanic families” says La Monarca Bakery co-founder &  CEO Ricardo Cervantes. “Traditionally they are fried, but we bake our buñuelos in small batches using butter and other simple ingredients. These pastries are light, crispy and dusted with cinnamon and sugar for a delicious treat.”

Netflix just released Season 3 of their popular show called "The Lincoln Lawyer." It's about defense attorney Mickey Haller (starring Manual Garcia-Rulfo) who works out of his Lincoln Navigator in Los Angeles. Mickey is a foodie, so authentic Los Angeles food is threaded throughout the season.

In the beginning of Season 3/Episode 5, La Monarca Bakery's vanilla and chocolate mini-conchas, along with our orange pan dulce box, cafecito and beverage carafes, are featured on the screen and in the script!
